Our home is known for it’s Cosmopolitans as guests always like the theatre of it being made. What’s not to like, vibrant colours, great taste and flames. Be warned though, its a pretty strong drink so don’t over do it. Also you can use vodka instead of gin, but I feel that a gin based Cosmopolitan has a far better taste.
Serves: 1
You will need:
30 ml gin (we use Arctic Gin)
30 ml cointreau triple sec
50 ml cranberry juice
15 ml freshly squeezed lime juice
Orange peel
Ice
Cocktail shaker
Cocktail glass
Cocktail sieve
Method:
(1) Shake all ingredients (apart from the orange peel)in a cocktail shaker with ice
(2) Strain the mix into chilled glass to also remove the ice.
(3) (WARNING: This can be dangerous so be careful) Flame the orange peel: Take a round slice of orange rind and hold it between the thumb and forefinger over the glass in front of a lighter flame and squeeze the orange rind quickly. The oils in the zest will ignite creating a bit of flair that always impresses guests.
(4) Place the zest in the glass as a garnish.
